The SCIAA Middle School Baseball & Softball Championship Tournament came to a close Tuesday night at Carruther’s Park.
White Station continued their dominance in the Large School Baseball division with a decisive 20-5 win over Germantown. Coach Coley Thornton had his team and prepared throughout the tournament.
The Lady Spartans Softball team was not to be outdone by the boys! They defeated a strong Kate Bond team 14-7 to take the crown for Large Schools Softball.
The Small Schools division for softball was extremely competitive this year. Maxine Smith STEAM Academy defeated a strong Lowrance team to get into the championship game. E.E. Jeter beat Barret’s Chapel to earn their spot in the finals. The Championship game did not disappoint! Maxine Smith STEAM Academy wins their first SCIAA Softball Championship 13-7.
The highlight game of the night was John P. Freeman vs. Barret’s Chapel. The Small Schools Baseball division was the most competitive league I have seen in recent years. The score went back and forth throughout the entire game. In the end Barret’s Chapel brought home the SCIAA Championship Plaque.
2017 marks the first ever TMSAA West Tennessee Sectional Championship for Baseball & Softball. Maxine Smith STEAM Academy prepares to travel to Three Oaks Middle School in Dyersburg today for their softball game at 5:30 pm. Barrret’s Chapel will host the Choctaws of Three Oaks at their new baseball field at 5:00 pm today.
The large schools championship games will be played at Carruther’s Park today. White Station Lady Spartans softball team will host the Cougars from Munford at 5:45 pm. The Spartan Baseball team will host Haywood, first pitch at 5:30 pm. Admission is $5.00.
